The Sokoké
is originally a wild cat living in Kenya. It has the particularity of living in
trees. Of average size, it has a very muscular long body, long legs and fairly
large feet. Its hind legs are a little bigger than the front ones. Its head is
triangular in shape with prominent cheeks and cheekbones. The Sokoké has large
ears slightly rounded at the tip and carried straight and high on its head. It
also has large almond-shaped eyes that can be gold, amber or green. Its tail is
long and thin.
The soft
and silky hair of the Sokoké is short but a little longer on its belly. Its
coat is honey-colored at the base with black or chocolate brown striped
patterns. Its coat is called "brown marble tabby". Its stripes are
small on the head and form a kind of arabesque on its cheekbones. Others start
from his shoulders to widen until his tail where these stripes are darker and
darker until its tip.

The Sokoké
is native to Kenya and more particularly to the Sokoke forest, from where it
takes its name. This feral cat was originally discovered by chance in the 1970s
by a breeder who did not know at first that it was a very rare breed of cat.
It was
first shown for the first time at a dog show in 1984 in Denmark. The Sokoké has
been recognized internationally since 1993.
