Description
and characteristics of the Anatoli
Like its
cousin the Turk de Van, the Anatoli is a long and muscular cat, with a broad
chest and strong bones. With its round paws and thick tail of medium length, it
is a massive looking cat. His head is shaped like a triangle with two large
ears with rounded tips. The Anatoli has large bright oval eyes, slightly
oblique, green, bright yellow or amber.
The short
coat of the Anatoli is generally plain white but it can also be bicolor: white
at the base with color markings except chocolate, cinnamon, fawn and lilac. Its
hairs are of a fine texture and the Anatoli has no woolly undercoat.
Origin
of the Anatoli
Like the
Turk of Van from whom he is descended, the Anatoli is native to Turkey, and
more particularly to the region of Central Anatolia from which it takes its
name. It is a natural breed resulting from a genetic mutation of the
short-haired Van Turk, hence its great resemblance to the latter.
The Anatoli
is recognized as a breed only since 2001 by the "World Cat
Federation", an international association of cat clubs based in Germany.
It is a rather rare cat breed outside of its country of origin, Turkey.
Character
and behavior of the Anatoli - Who is it for?
The Anatoli
is a sociable cat with his fellow cats and people outside his family, loyal and
affectionate. It is also very playful. Like the Turk of Van, he is dynamic and
rather turbulent. It is an intelligent and curious cat, very attached to its
masters. He is able to express many expressions through his face, from
astonishment to anger!
The Anatoli
also particularly appreciates water and does not hesitate to dive into it.
How to
take care of your Anatoli: its needs
Despite its
curiosity and dynamism, the Anatoli is more of an indoor cat. He feels good
when he is very close to his owners. The Anatoli does not need any special
care. A regular brushing of his coat is enough.
Feeding the
Anatoli or Anatolian shorthair
The Anatoli
is not a greedy cat, nor a big eater. A good quality diet adapted to his state
of health, his age and his physical exercise suits him very well.
The
health of the Anatoli
There are
no known diseases peculiar to the Anatoli breed. Like all cats, it should be
vaccinated regularly and checked for parasites.
