Description
and characteristics of Mau Arabic
The Arabian
Mau is one of the "semi-foreign" type cats, that is to say that it
has a rectangular body, a solid bone structure, a medium-length tail and oval
feet in particular. It is an elegant cat with strong muscles, high on legs.
The eyes of
the Arabian Mau are oval shaped and match the color of its coat. Its hair is
not particularly silky. On the contrary, it is rather firm.
Inhabiting
countries of the Arabian Peninsula, the Arabian Mau is able to adapt to the
rigors of their climate. It does not have an undercoat to better withstand the
heat. Its large and wide ears, placed slightly at an angle on its head, also
have the function of repelling heat.
Origin
of the Arab Mau
The Mau
Arabian is a natural breed. It is native to ancient Asia Minor, which is now
the western tip of Asia between the eastern Mediterranean, the Aegean Sea and
the Black Sea. It is a very ancient race (thousands of years old) that is found
today in the Gulf countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar,
Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain.
Originally,
the Arab Mau lived wildly in the middle of deserts, but as the deserts receded,
it moved closer to cities and therefore closer to people. For a long time it
was considered a stray cat. It is a German breeder expatriated in the United Arab
Emirates who developed the breeding of the Arabian Mau from 2004. Today, only
the World Cat Federation officially recognized it as a new breed in 2009.
The Arabian
Mau is a curious, lively, intelligent and very agile cat. It is best suited to
an active owner. It lives mostly at night, a habit it has kept from its
geographical origins where cooler nights allow it to go out and hunt more
comfortably.
This cat
has a very good character. It is affectionate, gentle, and accepts well the
presence of other animals in its family, cats or dogs. The Arabian Mau
particularly appreciates the presence of children.
How to take
care of your Arabian Mau: its needs
The Mau
Arabian loves to play. At home, it is essential to provide him with cat toys so
that he spends his energy.
He is more
of an outdoor cat than an indoor cat. This is why it is not recommended to keep
an Arabian Mau in an apartment. It is preferable to be able to provide him with
a large garden so that he can hunt in particular.
The Mau
Arabian's diet
Mau Arabic

its state of health and its physical exercise.
The

The Mau
Arabian is in very good health and rarely gets sick. It is a cat that has
developed its immune defenses to fight against the extreme climatic conditions
