Description
and characteristics of the Brazilian Shorthair
The
Brazilian Shorthair is a medium sized cat with a finer body than the American
Shorthair, with whom it is often compared, as with the British Shorthair, but
muscular. Its head is its main characteristic: it is relatively small and
longer than it is wide. His round eyes are large and expressive and their color
matches his coat color. Its silky and glossy coat is short, without presence of
undercoat. It has the particularity of being tight. The ears of the Brazilian
Shorthair are rather large and carried well erect on his head.
Origin
of the Brazilian Shorthair
The
Brazilian Shorthair is a natural breed native to Brazil. Its ancestors are
undoubtedly domestic cats brought during the expeditions of colonization of
South America led by the Portuguese in the early 16th century. This breed has
been developed quite recently (in the mid-1980s) and particularly in Brazil.
The Brazilian Shorthair is the first breed of this country to have been
recognized at the international level, in 1998. It is an extremely rare cat of
which one finds today only a few specimens in the United States.

also likes to be with children with whom he enjoys playing.
Very good
mouse hunter, the Brazilian Shorthair is agile and lively. He lives in the
country as well as in the city in an apartment.

care of your Brazilian Shorthair: his needs
Because of
its short coat, the Brazilian Shorthair is very easy to maintain. A brushing of
its coat once a week is sufficient to remove dead hairs.
Even if he
is quite independent, he is a cat who is happy if his family takes care of him
a lot and if he feels loved.
Be careful
to secure the Brazilian Shorthair's environment because of his hunting instinct
which can push him to run away.
